Wood A Frame Sign

Garage window sill bit / ATE away .. why?

I just cleaned the garage 2 weeks ago and no signs of anything (no mouse droppings, etc.) I just went there and saw the window frame (made of wood) it seems that something is chewing on it. Imagine a piece chipped hard wood with a paint scraper .. that's what it seems. The window was fine 2 weeks ago (and I believe that until last week when I was there because I definitey would have realized the damage then!) And just ate the wood is because wood is the new color of the wood (cool color). I've seen squirels and chipmunks in our yard lately, but just something as small as a squirrel could really get into the garage through a couple of very small holes. Could be a squirrel? Or something else?

If you are like wood chips, probably a rodent. If a fine powder or sawdust, which could be ants carpenter or termites. Carpenter ants took over a hollow interior door in our house once. We keep finding these little piles of sawdust and could not understand what was causing. One night was very quiet in the house and we heard this squeal that eventually attributed to the door. They were eating from the inside out! They can do much damage in a short time. You may want to call an exterminator.
