Well, I guess it was 11 years ago I began noticing that something was wrong with Amy. I had just turned 13 when I caught her always looking in the mirror. She asked me if I thought she put on weight. I said no, of course, was always right for your age.

You know, I never thought that something went wrong I took it as something just being a teenager and did not really think about it much. I myself remember those teenage years worrying about my appearance and going on diets and silly stuff like that, was what many of my friends too.

Or even reflected in the fact that Amy just play with the food on the table and just change around your plate, eating very little. Of course she would not eat their food, but she said she had plenty to eat at school, or at a friends or some other excuse and I cheat.

However, in retrospect, I feel very guilty as a parent for not being more aware of things at that time and what happened to the "if only I had realized back then, perhaps could have done something," but I did not and 10 years of living hell was about to begin.

Amy has always been a pretty smart girl, always thinking of others always nice and kind. When I was 8 years she was always doing things for her grandmother (who had gone to live with us) always asked if she needed help cleaning or if I could do anything for her. She always offered to take her grandmother's dinner of it and bring back the dirty dishes, nothing was too much for her.

Amy was 12 when his grandmother died. We would be very upset but seemed likely handle better than anyone, even younger than his brother Ben seemed more upset. We put the fact that Gran had been sick for more than six months and had explained to her that we think Gran would not live much longer.

Even Amy's funeral not to mourn, but seemed in total control, but again I was too upset about losing my mother, I do not pay much attention.

My God! What a fool I was at that time how could I miss all the little signals that Amy sent me? Why not see the warning signs, How could he have been so stupid? All were there to be seen, but I did not notice anything.

I think what really sent Amy on the trip that almost cost him his life was what she became very disappointed when she was 13. Amy loved to dance and she did well and had a real passion for dancing.

She always said he wanted to be a dancer when she grew up and if any dancing came on TV would not miss. Even if there is a family outing or a birthday party, if dancing was on TV he would refuse to go until the show was over.

I have to say at this point that Amy was not a typical small 13. She was very developed for her age with breasts and a mature over your body, more like a girl 16 years that 13 years of age.

Most of his friends were still waiting for the development of breasts and the girls were still so thin without form. I did not know then, but Amy made fun of his body by some of the girls at school who call her fat and said he had a big butt. Of course, this was not true, Amy was just more developed, but she was starting to think she was really fat.

It was the November 18, 1996, which I think was the catalyst of 10 years of hell that was about to be expensive. Amy had been practicing for months to enter the dance team at school. Are the auditions for the show Christmas and Amy was so keen to get the main dance role.

Two days before the hearings that were ill and when their dance rehearsals, she was in good health. She could not get the lead role, in fact she danced so badly that not even make the team. When she left the stage I heard one of the girls I was successful, I told you are too fat.

This episode of Amy's life was an important inflection point (or trigger) that began his 10 years of suffering with anorexia-bulimia. This was the beginning of my ordeal horror of anorexia-bulimia.
