What are appropriate measures for ADA sign up?
Business owners and operators should be aware of the guidelines ADA regulation. Procurement and ADA signage showing is one of the cheapest and simplest ways to achieve compliance.
But to be full compliance with the standards for appropriate use of these signs should be mounted at the correct height and position to be effective.
During the years I've been in the sign Busniess acrylic, many people have requested information about tactile signage hanging properly. Several of my customers have complained that this information is not as easy to find as they would like. Even government websites do not always have the latest guidelines list where you can find easily.
I researched the facts for you, and specifications are listed according to the latest available from the 2004 guidelines updated. These guidelines include permanent signage for rooms, offices and toilets.
How to measure accurately? Start at the bottom!
According to the Accessibility Guidelines of the ADA, the sign height should be measured from the finished floor or ground. "Flat Finish" is a term that means building a completely flat surface with tiles, carpet, or finished covering that is not on the need for new construction. If your floor surface is concrete only, this is the finished floor surface on which you make your measurements.
All measures of progress in the field and at the end of the line basis of letters of touch in your sign. The letters are the characters on tactile surface relief of the signal. You could say they are playing the sign with his fingers. This is important to know whether the sign contains no letters painted, made of vinyl stickers, drawings or other graphics. These examples are not tactile, so not need to determine their actions.
The baseline is the bottom of the letters forming the words in your sign. There can be only one word or more than one line of text. I'll show you what to do in both cases.
How to determine the height of signs mount
ADA tactile signs are going to get at least 48 inches (or 1220 mm) above the finished floor or ground surface measured from the line base of the lowest character set.
For example, if the sign has two lines of text, the minimum requirement at the bottom end of the line lowest characters. If your sign is a word, just use that word to determine height of sign.
Their ADA signs to be mounted a maximum of 60 inches (or 1525 mm) above the finished floor or ground surface measured to the highest tactile qualities.
For example, if the sign has two text lines, the maximum height shall be measured at the bottom of the highest line of the letters touch. If only one line of text or a word, use the bottom of this text to determine the height measurement.
Now, signs are in compliance with ADA standards
There is a difference of 12 inches (or 305 mm) in the two measurements of the height recommended. While your sign falls within this area is in compliance with Under the guidelines of the ADA.
In the unlikely event that you have a tactile signal, with more than twelve inches in value of the text lines, I suggest consult with state and federal ADA professionals to determine appropriate measures for their special needs.
Otherwise, the vast majority of signals ADA Tactile fit perfectly within these guidelines tactile ADA sign height .*
